The Chemical Properties of Acetate Fiber
1.Alkali resistance
Weakly alkaline agent almost has no damage to acetate fiber, so the fiber has very little weight loss. If in strong alkali, acetate fiber, especially the diacetate fiber, is easy to have deacetylation, which lead to weight loss and the reduction of strength and modulus. Therefore, the pH value of the solution for treating acetate fiber should not be over 7.0. Under standard washing condition, acetate fiber has strong chlorine bleaching resistance. It can also be drycleaned by perchloroethylene.
2.Resistance to organic solvents
Acetate fiber can be totally soluble in acetone, DMF and glacial acetic acid and it cannot be soluble in ethyl alcohol or tetrachloroethylene. According to these properties, acetone can be used as the spinning solvent for acetate fiber. And acetate fiber can be dry cleaned by tetrachloroethylene.
3.Acid resistance
Acetate fiber is stable in acid. The common sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and nitric acid, if in a certain concentration range, they will not influence the strength, luster or elongation of acetate fiber. But acetate fiber is soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated hydrochloric acid and concentrated nitric acid.
4.Dyeing property
Disperse dyes are the most suitable dyes for acetate fiber, which has low molecular weight and similar dyeing rate.
The acetate fiber or fabric dyed by disperse dyes has bright color, brilliant luster, good leveling effect, high dye-uptake rate, good color fastness and wild chromatogram.
Physical Properties of Acetate Fiber
1.Acetate fiber has certain water absorption. It also has the rapid dehydration property after adsorbing water.
2.Acetate fiber has good heat stability. The glass transition temperature of acetate fiber is about 185℃ and the melting termination temperature is about 310℃. When temperature stop rising, the weight loss ratio of fiber is 90.78%. The breaking strength change from 1.29 cN/dtex to 31.44%.
3.The density of acetate fiber is smaller than that of viscose fiber and it is similar to that of polyester. The strength is the smallest among these three fibers.
4.The elasticity of acetate fiber is good, which is close to that of silk and wool.
5.Shrinkage in boiling water is low. But high temperature processing will influence the strength and luster. So the temperature cannot exceed 85℃.
Is acetate fiber fabric comfortable for wearing?
1.Diacetate fiber has good air permeability and anti-static property.
In the environment of 65% relative humidity, diacetate fiber has the same moisture absorption as cotton and better quick drying property than cotton. So it can absorb the water vapor evaporating from human body and then release very well, which make people feel comfortable. At the same time, the good moisture absorption performance can reduce the accumulation of static electricity.
2.Diacetate fiber has soft handle.
If the initial modulus is low, under small loads, the fibers are weakly rigid and flexible. So it shows the soft performance, which makes the skin has a soft and smooth feeling.
If the initial modulus is high, under small loads, the fiber is rigid and unbending. So it shows stiff performance.
3.Diacetate fiber has excellent deodorizing function.
Why does acetate fiber have good appearance?
1.Diacateate fiber has a downy pearly luster.
2.Acetate fiber has excellent drapability.
3.Diacetate has bright and brilliant color and fastness. It has wild chromatography, full and pure color shade and excellent color fastness.
4.Acetate fiber has good dimensional stability. It has low expansibility to water. So the fabric can keep good dimensional stability.
5.Diacetate fiber has balanced anti-fouling performance. It has anti-staining performance and easy-washing performance for dust, water stain and oil stain.
