Properties of Alginate Fiber
1.Physical property:
Pure alginate fiber is white. Its surface is smooth and glossy. It has soft handle. The fineness is even.
2.Mechanical property:
The evenness of supramolecular structure of alginate fiber and the cross linking of calcium ions between macromolecules of alginate fiber make the acting force among macromolecules of alginate fiber strong. The breaking strength of fiber is 1.6~2.6 cN/dtex.
3.Moisture absorption:
There are a lot of hydroxyl groups in the macromolecular structure of alginate fiber, making it have good moisture absorption property. The moisture regain of pure alginate fiber can be up to 12~17%.
4.Flame retardant property
Alginate fiber has intrinsic flame retardant property. It can self-extinguish when it is away from fire. The limiting oxygen index is 45%. It is Non-combustible fiber.
5.Antibacterial activity
Alginate fiber contains very little lactic acid or oligomer, which have antibacterial effect.
6.Radiation-proof property
Alginate fiber has a good adsorption effect on metal ions, so it can be used to make new-type anti-electromagnetic radiation material.
Applications of Alginate Fiber
1.Textile and garments
Alginate fiber can be used to make protective and decorative textiles, high-end clothing, underwear, electromagnetic shielding fabric, sportswear and home textile products, etc.
