Dyeing Saturation Value
At a certain dyeing temperature, the maximum amount of dyes that a fiber can be dyed.
Time of Half Dyeing
The time that needs to reach half of equilibrium absorption capacity, which is expressed by t1/2. It means how quickly the dye reaches equilibrium.
Leveling Dyeing
The uniformity of dyes distributing on the fabric surface and inside the fibers.
Migration
Dyes migrate to less dyed part from more dyed part by desorption, so as to improve leveling effect.
Affinity
The negative value of the difference between the degree in dye standardization on the fiber and the degree in dye standardization in the dying bath.
Entropy of Dyeing
An infinitely small amount of dye is transferred from the dye solution in standard state to the fiber in standard state, and the entropy change of system caused by the migration of dye per mole. Unit is kJ/ (℃•mol).
Activation Energy of Dyeing
To get close to the surface of the fiber, the dye molecule must have certain energy. The energy to overcome the energy resistance caused by the electrostatic repulsion is called activation energy of dyeing.
Vat Dyes
It is insoluble in water, which must be reduced to be water soluble by a strong reducing agent in an alkaline solution.
