Fluorescent Dyes for Textile Use
1.Fluorescent Whitening Agent
Fluorescent whitening agent is widely applied in textile, paper, washing powder, soap, rubber, plastics, pigments and paints, etc. In textile, the whiteness of the fiber itself often cannot meet people’s aesthetic requirements, especially natural fibers, whose whiteness varies greatly.
Fluorescent whitening agent can absorb high energy near ultraviolet light and emit fluorescence. The yellow color of yellowing object can be compensated by the blue light reflected from the fluorescent whitening agent, thus increasing the apparent whiteness of the object.
In addition, fluorescent whitening agent has the characteristics of ordinary dyes. It has good affinity, solubility and dispersing performance and color fastness to washing, light and ironing for the whitened fabrics.
2.Disperse Fluorescent Dyes
Disperse fluorescent dyes have small molecules and contain no water-soluble groups in structure. By the action of dispersing agent, it can penetrate into fibers evenly in the dyeing bath. Under the action of high temperature, the dyes precipitating on the fabric can dye the chemical fibers in a very short time.
For the small molecules of fluorescent dyes melt together with the fibers, the rubbing fastness and washing fastness of fabrics both are very good while the light fastness is poor.
3.Fluorescent Paint
Fluorescent paint is slurry composed of fluorescent pigment, dispersing agent and wetting agent, which is insoluble in water, has no affinity for fibers and cannot dye according to normal dyeing condition.
Fluorescent paint is attached to the fiber surface by dipping and padding and then it is fixed on the surface of fiber by the help of resin in adhesive, so as to achieve certain of dyeing fastness. Because of the influence of resin in adhesive, the handle of fabric will be hard.
Fluorescent Fabric
Fluorescent fabric is the fabric that has strong reflection effect after fluorescent dyeing or coating finishing.
Fluorescent fabric is mainly made of chemical fibers dyed by disperse fluorescent dyes. It has good washing fastness and bright color.
