Generally, it is recommended to choose natural fiber fabrics or blended fabrics for suit, but not pure chemical fiber fabrics. The commonly used 5 major fabrics for high-end suit are: wool, cashmere, cotton, flax and silk.
1. Wool
Wool has feltability. Wool fabric is soft and has good heat retention property. Its tensile strength is lowest among natural fibers, and its elongation and elastic resilience are the best among natural fibers. It has strong moisture absorption and good light resistance, heat resistance and low temperature resistance. It is antibacterial, but it is not anti-moth.
2.Cashmere
Cashmere is precious textile fabric. It has stronger flexibility and elasticity than wool. Its density is lower than that of wool. It is light, soft, exquisite, smooth and warm.
3.Silk
Among natural fibers, silk has the best length and fineness. Silk fabric is exquisite, smooth, soft and bright. Its tensile strength is better than that of wool and close to that of cotton. It has strong moisture absorption and quick moisture evaporation. It is easy to expand after absorbing moisture. There will be a specific silk scroop when knead or rub it. Its light fastness is poor, so that it is easy to yellow.
4.Mohair
Mohair has silk-like luster. It is antifelting. It has strong strength and good elasticity.
5.Cotton
Cotton has better tensile strength than wool. But its elongation and elastic resilience is poorer. It has strong moisture absorption. Its light fastness is poor, which will decrease its strength. It has good heat resistance. Its warmth retention is second to wool and silk only. In humid condition, it is easy to get mildew and change color.
6.Linen
Linen has the best tensile strength among natural fibers, but poorest elongation and elastic resilience. Its moisture absorption is stronger than that of cotton. Linen fabric is cool, dry and comfortable. Its hand feeling is hard and rough. It is not easy to twist. Linen fabric can absorb sweat and will not stick to body.
7.Spandex
Spandex has the best elasticity. Its light fastness and wear resistance is good. It has the poorest strength. Its moisture absorption is poor.
