Textile finishing process refers to a serious of processing to improve the appearance, hand feeling and dimensional stability and imparts special functions during the production of textiles.
Basic Finishing Process
Pre-shrinking: It is to reduce the shrinking of fabric after soaking by physical methods, so as to reduce the shrinkage rate.
Tentering: By using the plasticity of the fiber under wet condition, the fabric width can be stretched to the specified size, so that the fabric shape is stable.
Heat setting: It is mainly used for thermoplastic fibers and blended or interwoven fabrics. By heating, the fabric shape becomes relatively stable and the dimensional stability is improved.
Desizing: It is to treat with acid, alkali and enzyme, etc., to remove the sizing added to the warp during weaving.
Appearance Finishing Process
Whitening: It is to improve the whiteness of textiles by the principle of complementary color of light.
Calendering: It is to improve the luster of fabric by using the roller to roll the fabric surface or roll out with fine twill.
Sanding: It is to use a sanding roller to make a layer of short and fine fluff on the fabric surface.
Napping: It is to use dense needles or thorns to pick up the fibers from the top of the fabric to form a layer of fluff.
Handle Finishing Process
Soft finishing: It is to impart fabric soft hand feeling by softener or knead machine.
Stiff finishing: It is to dip the fabric in the finishing bath made of high-molecular material that can form a film so as to adhere it to the surface of the fabric. After drying, there can form a surface film and impart the fabric stiff handle.
Functional Finishing Process
Waterproof finishing: It is to apply waterproof material or coating to the fabric to impart fabric waterproofing performance.
Flame-retardant finishing: It is to impart fabric flame-retardant performance, so that it can prevent flame spreading.
Anti-fouling and oil-proof finishing
Antibacterial and mildew-proof finishing
Anti-static finishing
Other Finishing Process
Coating: It is to apply a coating to the surface of the fabric to impart it special function, such as waterproofing, windproof and breathable, etc.
Composite finishing: It is to combine the different type of fabric together by gum and pad pasting, etc. to gain better performance.
