Aramid is natural flame-retardant fabric. For its unique physical and chemical properties, it has broad application prospect in many fields. It is a kind of high-performance synthetic fiber made by spinning special resin. It has unique molecular structure, which is constitute by a long chain of alternating connection of amide bonds and aromatic rings. According to the different molecular structure, aramid is mainly divided into meso-aramid (Aramid I, 1313), para-aramid (Aramid II, 1414) and heterocyclic aramid (Aramid III). And what are the applications and features of aramid fiber?
Application of Aramid
1.Filament
2.Short-staple pulp
3.Paper
4.Fabric and composite material
5.Aerospace
6.Military
7.Transportation supplies
8.Communication supplies
9.Tire
Categories of Aramid
1.Adjacent aramid
2.Para-aramid (PPTA)
3.Meta-aramid (PMTA)
Advantages of Aramid
It has excellent performance, as high strength, high modulus, high temperature resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance, light weight, insulation, ageing resistance, stable chemical structure, combustion safety and long life time.
Disadvantages of Aramid
It has poor light resistance and UV resistance. It is not resistant to strong acid or strong alkali. Its compression strength and compression modulus are low. The bonding strength of aramid fiber and resin interface is low. It has poor moisture absorption. And it will be easily hydrolyzed.
