Salt shrinking is mainly applied in textile processing, which is a finishing method.
Definition of Salt Shrinking
When treated in hot concentrated solution of neutral salts such as calcium nitrate and calcium chloride, etc., there will occur the phenomenon of swelling and shrinkage.
Salt Shrinking Finishing
To use the salt shrinking performance of silk to process silk fabrics with creasing effect will impart the silk fabric fluffy and elastic style.
Calcium nitrate is mainly used. And calcium chloride and sodium thiocyanate can also be used.
Processing Method
1.Dipping Process
It is suitable for salt shrinking finishing for blended fabrics of silk and other fibers. It is to gain special creasing effect by interweaving silk dyed by metal complex dyes with ordinary silk.
2.Printing Process
It can show a variety of three-dimensional patterns. And it can obtain a special creasing effect of local contraction.
3.Other Methods
Silk can be processed by shrink-resist agent, as chlorinated tin, formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde, tannic acid, wax and synthetic resin, etc. And then the silk can be twisted or interwoven with ordinary silk, and following is the salt shrinking finishing process.
