The main differences between clinquant velvet and mercerized velvet are mainly in raw material, appearance, application and characteristic.
Clinquant Velvet
The raw materials of clinquant velvet mainly are polyester FDY50D and DTY75D. After pretreatment, hot setting and wet treatment before dyeing, dyeing (adding flame retardant elements), sanding and high wet pressing velvet burnishing by ironing machine, the fabric is shrunk and the density is increased. The frond side of fabric is lustrous and the back side is napping. It has soft and elastic handle.
Mercerized Velvet
Mercerized velvet belongs to panne velvet. The emerizing yarns are treated by mercerizing process to obtain the fabric with very good lustrous surface. It is also called mercerizing panne velvet.
The surface gloss of mercerized velvet is particularly full. After washed, it is easy to deform.
Application and Characteristic
Clinquant velvet is mostly used to make school uniforms and sportswear, etc. For its good anti-wrinkling property, it is not easy to deform after repeated washing.
Clinquant velvet has good breathability.
Mercerized velvet is mainly applied to make lady top and decorations for embellishing the edges and corners of clothes.
Mercerized velvet is soft and mild. It has slight napping handle, which is not easily visible to the naked eyes. It has food color, which appears elegant. However, mercerized velvet is not washable. It is easy to deform after several washing.
