What Is The Difference between Knitted Cotton And Pure Cotton?

Knitted cotton is a kind of fabric that is made by using knitting needles to bend yarn into loops and string them together. Knitted cotton has good elasticity, moisture absorption and breathability. It is comfortable and warm. It is the mostly widely used fabric for children’s clothing. However, pure cotton is a fabric that is made of 100% cotton, which has good hygienic property, warmth retention property, moisture absorption and breathability. Pure cotton fabric is more applied for making clothes next to skin.

Knitted cotton and pure cotton look very similar in appearance. But the fabrics themselves have certain differences. Firstly, knitted cotton has better dyeability, which has higher color brightness and color fastness. The wearing comfort and absorption are similar to that of pure cotton. Pure cotton has poorer elasticity than knitted cotton and it is not so acid resistant. Pure cotton has better moisture absorption and it is very comfortable.

Pure cotton fabric has better heat resistance than knitted cotton fabric. That is because knitted cotton fabric has smoother surface. Comparing with pure cotton, knitted cotton fabric is not easy to pilling or deform. Knitted cotton has better dyeability. But in fact, knitted cotton fabric is made of cotton thread through knitting technology. Therefore, they are both comfortable for wearing. The main differences are the dyeing process, wearability and moisture absorption of fabric.

Which One Is Better?

Pure cotton fabric and knitted cotton fabric both are healthy for human body. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. The disadvantage of knitted cotton is that the gap between warp and weft of the fabric is relatively large, so that it is less warm than pure cotton. But pure cotton is easier to shrink and deform.
