Nylon was the world’s first synthetic fiber, which is a significant breakthrough in the synthetic fiber industry and also a very important milestone in polymer chemistry.
What Are the Advantages of Nylon Fabric?
1.Wear Resistance
The wear resistance of nylon is higher than other fibers, which is 10 times higher than that of cotton and 20 times higher than that of wool. To add some nylon fibers in the blended fabric can greatly increase its wear resistance. When stretched to 3-6%, its elastic recovery rate can reach 100%. It can withstand tens of thousands of bending without breaking.
2.Heat Resistance
High crystallinity nylon, such as Nylon 46, etc. has thermal deformation temperature. It can be used under 150℃ for long time. After reinforced by glass fiber, the thermal deformation temperature of Nylon PA66 reaches more than 250℃.
3.Corrosion Resistance
Nylon is resistant to alkali and most salt solution. And it is also resistant to weak acid, machine oil, petrol and common solvent. It is inert to aromatic compounds. But it is not resistant to strong acids or oxidants. It can resist the corrosion of petrol, oil, fat, alcohol, and weak alkali, etc. It has good ageing resistance.
4.Insulativity
Nylon has high volume resistance and high breakdown voltage resistance. In the dry environment, it can be used as power frequency insulation material. Even in high humidity environment, it still has good electrical insulation.
