1.Relieve the internal stress
In the weaving process, spandex fiber will produce certain internal stresses. If these internal stresses are not removed, they can lead to permanent creases or deformations in the fabric during post-processing or use. By setting, these internal stresses can be relieved, which made the dimension of fabric more stable.
 
2.Improve the elasticity and resilience
Spandex is a kind of synthetic fiber,  as well as elastic fiber. By heat setting, the molecular chain of spandex fiber will break, reorganize and crystallize to form a more orderly structure. Therefore, the elasticity and resilience of the fiber will be improved.
That makes spandex fabric to better maintain its shape during wearing and improve the comfort and beauty.
 
3.Improve the dyeing and printing effect
Setting process can improve the dyeing and printing effect, as evenness and fastness of dyed and printed spandex fabric.

Why Should the Setting Temperature Be Lower than 195℃?

1.Avoid to damage the fiber:
The temperature of resistance to dry heat of spandex is about 190℃. Beyond this temperature, the strength of spandex will decrease significantly, and may even melt or deform.
 
2.Prevent fabric yellowing:
If the setting temperature is too high, it will not only damage the spandex fiber, but also make fabric yellowing and influence the appearance. In addition, high temperature may also degrade impurities and auxiliaries on the fabric, resulting in markings that are difficult to remove.
 
3.Protect other fiber components:
Spandex is usually blended with other fibers, as polyester and nylon, etc. The heat resistance of these fibers is different. If the setting temperature is too high, it may damage other fibers. Therefore, when setting, it needs to consider the heat resistance of various fibers comprehensively and select the appropriate temperature range.
